The Grass Is Always Greener

By Judy Moon

I love a good short cut or cheat!

In a consultation that I had with a Wellness Coach, we were discussing adding wheatgrass to my diet. I felt a wave of “Oh No…” go through my body. I had visions of trays of wheatgrass struggling to live in my already crammed TINY row home kitchen in South Philly next to a giant counter hogging juicer that I would curse every time I had to clean it. I expressed my panic and concern and her response was – “just use the powder”.

Hallelujah!

I seriously never considered the powdered form because I didn’t think it was as beneficial as the fresh. I didn’t think it would be worth it. WRONG!

Is fresh better – of course it is!

But the powdered form is a great option for those who don’t want to deal with the mess, expense or work of doing fresh wheatgrass.

Why am I incorporating it in the first place?

Wheatgrass, a member of the cereal grass family along with rye, barley and oats is nutrient packed, has 92 out of 102 earth elements – things like iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamin A, C, and E – antioxidants to protect your body from free radicals and 2 oz of wheat grass gives you the benefits of 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables and is alkalizing to the body. It’s also 70% chlorophyll, which is what makes plants green. It’s like the blood of plants and fights inflammation, reverses aging, and boosts the immune system and cleans the blood. Sign me up!

How do I add this powerhouse in to my world you may be asking?

I have made it part of my afternoon green smoothie.

Judy’s Afternoon Green Smoothie
1 cup coconut water
1 small handful of kale
1 small handful of frozen mixed berries
1 small apple cored
1 scoop of Amazing Grass Organic Wheatgrass (comes with it’s own scoop)

Blend in your high-speed blender till smooth.

Drink with a smile on your face knowing how happy every cell in your body is right now.

Cheers!
